Pilates and Pregnancy
Pilates is perfectly suited for preparing women for labor and a speedy recovery.  It is a no-impact regime and places special emphasis on improving stability and mobility in the lumbopelvic and shoulder girdles--all important factors during pregnancy and beyond.

During pregnancy the body is changing at a rapid rate.  Postural alignment is altered which can put stress on the low back, pelvis, hips and feet. Pilates will strengthen the lumbar and pelvic region and alleviate muscle soreness and compression of the spine.  Also as a women’s center of gravity shifts, affecting coordination and balance.  Pilates exercises enhance these skills without compromising safety.

Private lessons are the best way to ensure exercises are properly modified and adapted as pregnancy progresses.  We at geometry respect the guidelines of the health care professional and do our best to create a safe and stress free environment to workout in.
