The talented staff at Geometry Pilates teach the pure, classical Pilates method of body conditioning. We are dedicated to the original teachings of Joseph Pilates, and all of our instructors have completed an extensive 600+ hour training program. The Instructor Training Program involves many hours of hands-on apprenticeship as well as written tests to demonstrate knowledge.
Alicia Buoni
Owner and Certified Pilates and Gyrotonic® Instructor
Alicia believes we can heal ourselves through movement and has been searching for the most efficient way to move. She believes Pilates and Gyrotonic exercises will help to re-educate your body to move with fluidity, grace, and power.
Alicia began working with Pilates in 1997 as professional dancer with Dance Kaleidoscope, a modern dance company that performed nightly in Ashland, OR during The Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s summer season. She became a certified Pilates instructor in May 2001 by Pilates, Inc. and studied with master instructor Romana Kryzanowska, a student of Joseph Pilates chosen to carry on his work. Alicia completed over 600 hours of training and assistant teaching and has worked extensively with senior trainers in Portland and Seattle before opening her own Pilates studio in November 2004.
Alicia completed her certification in the Gyrotonic Expansion System® and completed her specialized training for Pre- and Postnatal Gyrotonic with Master Trainer Leda Franklin, Lower Lumber training with German Physical Therapist Paul Hovarth, and Gyrokinesis® training with Portland’s Master Trainer Emma Kingston.
Alison Kauffman
Certified Pilates Instructor
Alison is a classically certified Pilates instructor from Power Pilates in New York City. She completed over 600 hours of training and observation with an amazing group of instructors-Susan Moran, Bob Liekens, and Phoebe Higgins. She received her mat certification from Power Pilates as well.
After graduating from the University of Colorado, Boulder, she moved to Steamboat, CO, which served as her home base for 8 years as she traveled the world, enjoyed skiing and mountain biking, and earned a MS from Colorado State University in Exercise Science. In 2003, she moved to Manhattan where she was first introduced to Pilates. Her own self-healing inspired her to become an instructor 2 years later. Alison likes to get the body moving while identifying each individual’s needs for healing and strengthening.
DeeAnn Nelson
Certified Pilates and Gyrotonic Instructor
DeeAnn is the newest member of the Geometry team. DeeAnn has seven years of experience in Pilates instruction. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Master of Fine Arts from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. She received her Pilates certification with Dolly Kelepez in Las Vegas in 2001 and her Gyrotonic Level One certification with Vincent Macagone in 2006. She will be completing her NASM training this summer.
DeeAnn has spent many years in New York City dancing, teaching, and learning. She originally perused her Pilates certification to empower her dance career. However, after many years of experience she has come to realize that these exercise forms allow for physical longevity and happiness. DeeAnn believes that the power of clear and responsible exercise can help individuals at all levels of fitness.
