The talented staff at Geometry Pilates teach the pure, classical Pilates method of body conditioning. We are dedicated to the original teachings of Joseph Pilates, and all of our instructors have completed an extensive 600+ hour training program. The Instructor Training Program involves many hours of hands-on apprenticeship as well as written tests to demonstrate knowledge.
Alicia Buoni
Owner and Certified Pilates and Gyrotonic® Instructor
Alicia believes we can heal ourselves through movement and found Pilates and Gyrotonic exercises help to re-educate your body to move with fluidity, grace, and power.
- 1997—Began working with Pilates as a professional dancer with Dance Kaleidoscope, a modern dance company.
- May 2001—Became a certified Pilates instructor by Pilates, Inc. and studied with master instructor Romana Kryzanowska, a student of Joseph Pilates chosen to carry on his work.
- November 2004—After over 600 hours of training and assistant teaching, and working extensively with senior trainers in Portland and Seattle, Alicia opens her own Pilates studio.
- 2006–2008—Completed certification in the Gyrotonic Expansion System® and specialized training for Pre- and Postnatal Gyrotonic with Master Trainer Leda Franklin, Lower Lumber training with German Physical Therapist Paul Hovarth, and Gyrokinesis® training with Portland’s Master Trainer Emma Kingston.

Alison Kauffman
Certified Pilates Instructor
A classically certified Pilates instructor, Alison likes to get the body moving while identifying each individual’s needs for healing and strengthening.
- Graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder and earned a MS from Colorado State University in Exercise Science.
- Completed over 600 hours of training and observation with Susan Moran, Bob Liekens, and Phoebe Higgins.
- 2003—Introduced to Pilates in Manhattan. Her own self-healing inspired her to become an instructor
- 2005—Received Pilates instructor certification and mat certification from Power Pilates in New York City.
Elena Spontak
Certified Pilates Instructor
While Elena teaches mostly classical Pilates, she also plays with her knowledge of Rehab Pilates and modern methods of the Pilates movement system. She strives for her students to gain more mobility, strength, and muscle control for efficiency of movement. She is passionate about teaching Pilates and watching her students progress.
- Graduated from University of New Mexico and earned a BA in Art, a BS in Anthropolgy and minored in Dance and Portuguese.
- 2007—Began studying at Core Dynamics with Michelle Larson and other Master Trainers and recieved Certification of Pilates Instructor.
- 2011—Pilates Continuing Education at Core Dynamics and received Certifications for Pilates and the aging body, and level 4 Pilates for Advanced students.
